Juan Carlos Villegas Cuevas, Director HIS A.C.

Originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, Juan Carlos traveled, worked and volunteered in more than 10 cities around the world. He has bachelors’ degrees in political science, sociology and cultural management and sustainable development. Juan Carlos also has experience working in the third sector, with foundations, non-profit organizations and research centers. Furthermore, Juan Carlos runs other socially-conscious initiatives apart from the Hub.

He is passionate about social entrepreneurship driven by small businesses, youth leadership, teamwork based on strong values and theories of change. He has collaborated with Rotary International, Slow Food, Youth Network of the Americas, Student’s In Free Enterprise, MakeSense, Disco Soup México, Enactus, ROTARACT, Mexican National Network of Psychology Students and My World México.

Juan Carlos Villegas has been awarded grants by the governments of Argentina, Mexico and the United States and throughout his career he has built initiatives related to permaculture, the environment and social entrepreneurship. He has won international competitions, including ChangeMakers, Change Your World, Student Entrepreneurship Award 2013 and AMex Award in conjunction with Ashoka.
